A few things to consider before jumping into the wonderful depths of studying music:
Lessons in your home must include a quiet space in order for learning to take place. Equipment (violin, music, assignment notebook, piano, bench, chairs, etc.) must be set up in the lesson area upon lesson start time.
Piano students must have an acoustic piano or full-sized (88-key) keyboard with weighted keys, foot pedals, and a bench.
Participants understand that music is a “foreign language” that takes time to learn. Patience and dedication are required to become fluent in the language of music.
What to expect from your instructor:
Quality lessons given by a trained and experienced teacher who is also a professional working musician.
Weekly private lessons that focus on fundamentals and technique as well as fostering a love for playing the instrument.
Organized and detailed practice assignments after each lesson.
Ms. Shannon has passed an FBI background check.
Direct and open communication.
What is expected of parents:
Encouragement through positive words fuel a child’s drive to succeed.
Parents are encouraged to take notes or videos to help the student practice at home.
Parental attendance is required at all lessons.
Listening to music should be a part of a daily routine, even if only in the background.
Parents should help their children establish a realistic practice routine during the week. You will be surprised at what a child can accomplish with five days of practice per week!
What is expected of students:
Students must display a desire to learn and willingness to practice at home.
Students who enjoy listening to music will enjoy playing music.
Students must be able to respectfully interact with adults.
Students need a consistent practice routine that includes reading and completing the assignment details given by Ms. Shannon.
